hi, i don't know if this idea is cool or whatever, but I thought it would be cool if there was an option to send points through quicknotes or pms or something like that. ideas?

Post 2 by jrimer (Please visit my home page at http://personal.wbby.us.) on Friday, 28-Jan-2005 20:50:33

Bad Idea, it could be abused and it may get out of hand.

Um I think it's a good idea. I mean I don't care about points, and poitns dont' mean anything, but sure. Why not? lol. After all some people have 0 points and some a billion. So why not spread ito ut? Lol.

But, of course, if points can be used to get prizes or soemthign in future, thsi might not be a good idea... but maybe it would? Oh I dont' know lol!

I say let everyone get their own points. Why should someone who spent a lot of time getting their points give them to someone else?

Post 6 by medical queen (This site is so "educational") on Friday, 28-Jan-2005 23:06:31

I don't see how anyone could get someone else's points anyways.

I guess if someone wanted to give away their points, it would be their loss.

What is the point of sending points to other users? After all, the whole purpose of your points are rewards for the games and such. IF you win a prize in any contest, no matter what it was, would you give it to someone else? PRobably not. IT doesn't make sense to give away points freely over quick notes.

Points are meaningless and if it makes some 1 feel better to have more points then I would have no problem giving any points that I had to any 1 who wanted them. If anything they are just materialistic and materialistic things can be replaced.

what about, instead of being able to transfer points, which in my view is a bad idea because then it kind of defeats the object of being able to win your own, but how about if there were multi player games on the site which means that users could compete against each other if they so chose, and therefore could score points from one another that way

i like the idea of multiple players...

ya know. I like that idea of multiple stuff. the best example righ tnow is probably sports challenge, which at this point isn't being widely used.

I like the idea of multiple player games, however, I don't think being able to transfer points is a good idea. I think allowing that would be just asking for trouble. *smile*

I do not believe that we should be sending point's through the quick notes because only the people with a lot of points would send them to there friends. I believe that points should be achieved by people playing the games and getting there interest points.

Post 15 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 13-Mar-2005 14:52:26

The implementation that we're looking at is allowing people to send points but with a fee, perhaps 10% for the sender.

Post 16 by 1800trivia (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Sunday, 13-Mar-2005 15:01:51

The fee makes sense; the site gets money, and it's a deterrent for people who want to transfer points. What does 10% mean though? I do like knowing that people earn their points on their own, but in reality, who's stopping people from playing games with their friends? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has shared anagram ideas with others, or played Lingo as a group, though I usually play the games on my own. Also, I think for those who have 0 points, they should get a point or something every day they log in. However, Keno, anagrams, and lingo are great ways to earn points that don't involve betting; more of the people with no points should try them more often. I'd be happy to help somebody with 0 points come up with anagrams.

the site gets money? NOt unless points are worth money. Actually, I think we'll find a way to give the 0 point people something. maybe if you log in and you have less than 50 or 100 points you'll be given that amount.

Post 18 by 1800trivia (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Sunday, 13-Mar-2005 20:10:56

What do you mean by "fee" then if there's no money involved?

Post 19 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 14-Mar-2005 13:19:23

point fee good lord i don't know what to do with ya all ok here is an idea we get some multiplayer games or for the current games put up a two player option i have done things like that on other sites

Post 20 by louiano (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 14-Mar-2005 13:35:05

gosh... this is driving me crazy. Well I like the idea of the multiplayer game thingi...

Post 21 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 15-Mar-2005 1:22:17

I like the idea of people with less points getting stuff when they log in. That's very fair. I think the point transfer is kinda pointless, and yeah, the point of points is to earn them yourself. Multi-player games sound quite nifty, though.

Post 22 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 15-Mar-2005 1:27:40

What he means by a 10% fee is this. If you transfer someone 2000 points it will cost you 10% of the 2000 points more to complete the transfer, or, 200 points. So, the total transfer will cost 2200 points. Though I do have to admit, I'd would rather see 2 player games. *smile* Guess I can always see to many bad options in things.

Post 23 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Tuesday, 15-Mar-2005 15:05:11

Well this wasn't an either or. The point transfer thing is something that's been talked about for awhile and probably easier to implement in the shortterm anyway.
